Do we need visa to study in New Zealand?

Yes, we do. Most international students need a visa to study New Zealand -New Zealand immigration

Before applying student visa, you need to provide:

•      Offer of place/confirmation of enrolment

(See www.immigration.govt.nz/offerofplace for more details about what is required on an offer of a place)

•       Evidence of fund to cover tuition fee

If you are applying for your first student visa, you must show you have sufficient funds to pay the tuition fees once your student visa is approved in principle.

You can provide evidence that the tuition fees will be covered by:

o    Brunei government scholarship/Loan (Financial Guarantor Letter)

o    Other funds.

•       Evidence of financial support

All applicants for student visas must provide evidence that they have sufficient funds available to maintain themselves throughout the period of their stay in New Zealand.

o    Financial undertaking

o    Own funds

If you intend to support yourself, the evidence needed depends on how long you will be studying in New Zealand.

If you will be studying for less than 36 weeks, you need to provide evidence of funds of NZ$1250 for each month of study. If you will be studying for 36 weeks or more, you need to provide evidence of NZ$15,000 for each year of study.

•       Insurance requirement for foreign-fee paying students

o   You do not need to provide evidence of your insurance policy with your student visa application, however, you are required to declare in your application that you will make the necessary arrangements to meet this condition. Many students arrange their insurance policy through their education provider (the university). In some cases the insurance policy is not obtained until the student has arrived in New Zealand and the enrolment process has been completed.

To apply for a student visa, you must complete and sign theStudent VisaApplication (INZ 1012) form.  If you are under 18 years of age, your parent or legal guardian must sign the form for you.

•      Medical Certificates and X-Ray Certificates

In Brunei, the medical examination is required to be carried out by a selected panel and medical practitioners or intuitions.
